Mineral Water Firm Plans 4th Facility

Nongfu-Spring Co Ltd, China's largest mineral water producer, will invest at least 1 billion yuan (US$120.6 million) in Heyuan, Guangdong Province, to build its fourth plant on the mainland. The project will be completed in 2005 and is expected to push the company's annual sales to 3 billion yuan by then, said Zhong Shanshan, the company's president, according to domestic media.NongFu-Spring has three plants on the mainland so far with an annual capacity topping 1.2 million tons. The three plants are located in Zhejiang Province, Jilin Province and Hubei Province."It is a strategic move. As NongFu-Spring has grabbed a big share of the market in China's northern and eastern regions, the new plant can help us to further explore the south," Zhong said. "We hope to top the Guangdong market within three to five years."Zhong added that the plant would be beside the Wanlu Lake, the largest artificial lake in south China. The water in the lake can be drunk directly.(Eastday.com)
