Sketch
With the increase in income and the change in consumer concept, total consumption of beverage is steadily up. Demand on varieties of different functions, of body building, and of fads is increasingly high.
White liquor production has entered a stage of adjustment after a period of high-speed development. A shift from high-alcohol content to low-alcohol content, from gain liquor to fruit wine, from distilled liquor to fermented wine, and from top grades to ordinary ones are underway. . Output and profits of white liquor production all fell down in 2002 due to application of new rules of composite tax. Days of flourishing have gone by.
Demand on grape wine was fast picking up in 2002, and its profit ranking in manufacturing sector was lifted to the seventh place . With the profit-driven effect, domestic businesses, one after another, were rushing to grape wine production, making an increasing investment inflow into grape wine business. It is envisaged that in 2003 grape wine market could be a warring state with Great Wall, Zhangyu and Dynasty, which are all giants of grape wine production, beating one another. Small and medium-sized grape wine producers will also be engaging in a free-for-all.
Output of beer were 23.8683 million tons in 2002, ranking first in the world. There was another heated landing set off by foreign beer producers on China market, making competition even fiercer, and business of beer producers, big and small , more difficult. It is envisaged that in the next 3 or 5 years, barley price would go up due to reduced output, and a re-shuffle in beer business would be inevitable.
For alcohol-free beverage, there could be a drastic change in varieties and market share. The market share of over 80% by the three traditional beverage of bottled drinking water, soda water, and tea would remain unchanged. However, production of fruit juice, milk products and beverage of special purpose are gathering momentum. It is most likely that these latecomers could come out first.
